London, 30 January, 2012: Bridges Ventures (‘Bridges’) today announced that it has promoted Simon Ringer, Head of Property Funds, to the Board and Anne-Marie Harris, Alistair Tillen and Garret Turley of the Bridges’ Sustainable Growth Funds to Partner.

Simon Ringer’s promotion to the Board is in recognition of his work in building Bridges’ two property funds; Bridges Sustainable Property Fund, and CarePlaces Partnership, which currently total almost £80m in equity.  The three promotions to Partner level recognise each individual’s contribution to the success of Bridges’ Sustainable Growth Funds.

Since 2002, these Funds have made equity investments totaling over £75m in 34 businesses.

Biographies

Simon Ringer Partner and Board Member

Simon has spent over 20 years in the property industry. For the majority of his career, he has been involved in fund management and banking. He was instrumental in the creation of the property fund management business of Charterhouse Bank (now HSBC) where he was a director and has developed and managed a range of property funds at Jones Lang LaSalle Corporate Finance and PRICOA (now Rockspring).

He is responsible for the Property Funds.

Simon has a Bsc (est man) from Oxford Brookes and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Anne-Marie Harris Partner, Sustainable Growth Funds

Having qualified as a chartered accountant while at Arthur Andersen, Anne-Marie spent 8 years advising mid-market companies at Close Brothers Corporate Finance and latterly at McQueen, the specialist corporate finance advisory business focusing on the leisure, retail and consumer sectors.

At Bridges Ventures, Anne-Marie leads the education / training sector and is responsible for the investment in New Career Skills, The Gym and Babington Business College.

She has a MA in Classics from Oxford University.

Alistair Tillen Partner, Sustainable Growth Funds

Alistair is experienced in growing early stage consumer and business services companies both on and off-line. He joined Bridges Ventures as a consultant in 2008, splitting his time between existing portfolio companies and new opportunities. For the Venture Funds he focuses on bringing new investments in high growth potential B2B and consumer companies in the UK. He previously ran, and subsequently sold, Simply Switch, a price comparison service and one of Bridges Ventures’ earliest investments.

Garret Turley Partner, Sustainable Growth Funds

Garret was founder and managing director of one of the UK’s largest veterinary groups, Pet Doctors, which grew through both greenfield openings and acquisitions to thirty sites. He has extensive experience of B2C and B2B service marketing, professional services management, and buy and build. He led a successful trade sale of Pet Doctors in 2010.

At Bridges Ventures, Garret spends his time working with portfolio companies and developing new opportunities.

He has been a trustee of Pilotlight, a charity that matches talented business people with charities and manages the relationship, since 2006.

Garret has a degree in veterinary medicine from Cambridge University, an MBA from Henley Management College and an MA in Art History from the OU.
